- Make
sure you have a 3/4 ton pickup truck full of wood for the weekend - The rangers will give you dirty looks but just ignore
it
- Always bring an accelerant - fuel means burned eyebrows, eye lashes, mustaches, arm and hand hair, and makes for
at least a 1/2 hour of laughter
- Do not give any wood away to lame campers who did not come prepared unless they are
female and good looking
- Keep the wood feeding from the wood truck, and park the truck close to the fire - but not
too close
- If the fire ring is not glowing by noon your doing something wrong. See section on using accelerant
- Oak,
seems to work best, any hard wood will do. Stay clear of pine or other soft wood. It sounds good but does not get hot enough
- If
the fire exceeds the fire ring, then you have succeeded on making a fire that is worthy of being called a more wood fire!
- If
the ranger tells you they are calling the fire department you have built a good fire
- If the flames a blue for the
first 3 feet then the fire may be hot enough. If your not sure put more wood on the fire, MORE WOOD
- If the campers
next to you turn out their light and are reading the paper by the light of your fire 50 feet away then it is a good fire,
MORE WOOD
